Edoardo Bendinelli – Osteopath and physiotherapist

Athletic Trainer, Physiotherapist, Osteopath. A graduate in Physical Education from the University of Florence and Physiotherapy from the University of Pisa. Describing Edoardo Bendinelli’s technical and professional skills in just a few lines would be an understatement.
He began his career in 1993 as a trainer at various sports centers.
From 1996 to 2002, he organized and managed the sports physiotherapy department at the Sports Medicine Center in Viareggio.
Between 1997 and 2001, he served as both physical trainer and therapist for Italy’s national roller hockey teams. In 2001, he worked as the physiotherapist for the Italian National Ski Team, specializing in the Giant Slalom and Super-G disciplines.
Since 2003, Edoardo has been the personal physiotherapist to Fernando Alonso, the Formula 1 World Champion. Between 2022 and 2024, Edoardo became part of the Human Performance project, where he worked as an Osteopath supporting the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team for the America’s Cup.
For several years, he has also worked as an osteopath at Athletica in Viareggio and FisioLaserSport in Navacchio. In 2024, he began working with the newly opened Athletica Cetilar – Performance Center, while during the 2025-2026 academic years, he is set to teach the Master’s program in Motorsport Activities at the University of Pavia.

Dott. Pietro Bonciani – Medical Director and Surgeon, Specialist in Sports Medicine

“In 1993, I read in the Gazzetta dello Sport that the famous skier Alberto Tomba was coming to Pisa to receive treatment with a cutting-edge laser therapy technique. Intrigued and eager to learn more, I reached out to the doctor administering the therapy. He graciously offered me a short internship, and before long I was among his closest collaborators. I immediately recognized the potential of laser therapy, as it offered remarkable results in a short period of time, with no contraindications. That’s when I became dedicated to studying, practicing, and perfecting this technique.”

Doctor Pietro Bonciani graduated in Medicine and Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Pisa. He is a sports physician specialized in the use of high-energy lasers in the medical field, further specializing in surgical laser therapy at AIRAS (Italian Association for Scientific Research and Updating) of the University of Padua.
Since 1996 he has been an associate doctor at the Sports Medicine Association of Viareggio.
Since 2015 he has been a lecturer at the SIUMB University School of Advanced Specialization. Furthermore, since 2016, he has been Health Director and a specialist in Sports Medicine and Laser Therapy at FisioLaserSport.
In 2024 he was appointed Medical Director and Referring Doctor of the innovative Athletica Cetilar – Performance Center.

Among the many roles he has held over the years:

  • Manager and physician at Pisa Calcio from 1994 to 1999.
  • Collaborator of Dr. Pier Francesco Parra at the “Centro Laser”, Casa di Cura di San Rossore, Pisa from 1993 to 1996.
  • Medical Director and Specialist in Sports Medicine at “Centro Le Querciole”, Pisa from 2019 to 2021.

With extensive experience and having treated numerous athletes over the years, Dr. Bonciani has developed specialized expertise in managing muscle and joint disorders. His work has been instrumental in ensuring the rapid recovery of athletes and their safe return to competition.

Filippo Della Latta – Co-founder and Training Area Manager

A passionate sports enthusiast from a young age, Filippo has been practicing Karate since the age of 6, representing the national kumite team for many years and achieving significant results at the national level. As he grew older, he chose to turn his passion into a professional career, earning a degree in Sports Sciences and completing several specialization courses in Rehabilitation & Functional Re-education, Sport Performance, and Slimming & Hypertrophy.

Filippo has worked across a variety of sports disciplines, with a particular focus on combat sports, motorsports, tennis, and sailing, coaching both individual athletes and teams.
Between 2022 and 2024, he contributed to the Human Performance project developed by PharmaNutra, supporting the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team in their preparation for the 37th America’s Cup, where he was responsible for the athletic conditioning of Cyclors and Afterguards.

In motorsports, Filippo has worked with hundreds of professional drivers, ranging from karting to Formula 1, as well as in motorcycling and endurance racing, guiding athletes through both physical preparation and on-track support worldwide.

In 2024, following the founding of Athletica with his partner Alessio Erra, Filippo embarked on an exciting new professional venture with the opening of the Athletica Cetilar – Performance Center in Pisa.

Alessio Erra – Co-founder and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Area Manager

As a graduate in Physiotherapy from the University of Pisa, with a Master’s in Clinical Posturology and numerous specializations in Manual Therapy, including the Maitland Concept, Stecco Fascial Manipulation and Osteopathic Strain and Counterstrain techniques,

Alessio has always had a deep passion for sports and, with a competitive background in Muay Thai, his ambition was always to become a Sports Physiotherapist. In 2010, his passion for motorsport led him to work in this field, where he began working with drivers across various categories, including Charles Leclerc, Robert Kubica, George Russell, Marcus Ericsson, Antonio Fuoco, Rubens Barrichello, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, and many others.

In 2021, alongside Filippo Della Latta, he founded Athletica – Sports Conditioning & Rehab in Viareggio. In a short time, the studio became an international hub for motorsport professionals, growing to include over 20 collaborators spread across Italy.

From 2022 to 2024, Alessio played a key role in providing physiotherapy and injury prevention services for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team during the 37th America’s Cup campaign, as part of the Human Performance project developed by PharmaNutra.

In 2024, he embarked on a new journey with the Athletica Cetilar-Performance Center.
